Petunias (pansies, etc... too) make colorful borders, easy to grow and will be all summer bloomers. Put in seedlings of annuals. Seedlings are much cheaper than buying plants in flower. Go for reliable annuals like marigolds and petunias. Check to see how much sun you get on your border during the day, so you know whether you need plants that need shade part of the day or fulll sun. Then measure your space.
