How can I incorporate a border into my knitting to stop it from curling?

Posted by admin on May 18th, 2012 and filed under border | 2 Comments »

So I knitted a scarf in stockinette stitch and it keeps curling. I’ve read about different techniques to remedy this, but really I want to correct this on my next scarf by adding a border or something so I don’t have to worry about it as much. Any tips?

if you want to do a scarf in stockinette stitch then all you need to do is knit the first couple of stitches (two or three stitches is usually enough) on every row to do a garter stitch border. When you are on a pearl side row bring the yarn to the front of the work (in position to peal your next stitch) between your needles after to knit the few stitches.

I have heard that if you slip the first stitch instead of knitting or purling (you just move it to the other needle without working it, that also helps but I have never tried it to know if it works.

What is needed to cross the border into Canada?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2012 and filed under border | 5 Comments »

I am 15 years of age and I am going to the LMFAO concert in Canada. I have never been but I have next to the border in Washington for my whole life. I am traveling with my boyfriend who is also 15, his mom, and his grandma. Do you think that my permit, birth certificate, and a noterized letter from my mom with her signature and the two adults signature will be good enough to get through the border and back?

Kids 15 and under may enter Canada and return to the U.S. with just their birth certificates. You also need a notarized letter of permission signed by both parents. See 2nd site below for a form you can print out to use.

What good is a border fence or deporting illegal immigrants if they can come back via tunnels?

Posted by admin on December 9th, 2011 and filed under border | 3 Comments »

What good is a border fence if illegal immigrants can get to US through a tunnel. They can even bring supplies with them. or what is the use of deporting illegal immigrants if they can just come back via tunnels.

What good is it for stores to make laws against shoplifting if the perp just goes to another store? Same logic.
In a perfect world all a country would have to do is to say no trespassing and outsiders would stay out.
But that didn’t work so we had to put up a fence.
Unfortunately those trespassers discovered that they can dig under that fence.
So what would you suggest would be the next step? Instead of asking what good is it to do it this way, why don’t you think of a better solution?

Can I cross the border into the States with a G2 license?

Posted by admin on August 24th, 2011 and filed under border | 3 Comments »

Me and my friend were planning on visiting a friend at university, but I’ve heard that you can’t cross the border unless you have a full license. We both have passports and birth certificates (so identification isn’t a problem), but can we get through with only a G2?

Hello Bob,

Yes, you can! My husband and me have done it several times already with our G2 licenses.
Hope this helps!

How to add a border to some selected pages in word document?

Posted by admin on July 21st, 2011 and filed under border | 196 Comments »

I want to add the border to all the pages except the first page. But I have no way of doing this. Is there any way to skip the first page. What about any other pages?

Thanks.

You don’t say which version of Word, so if it is Word 2003:
File/Page Setup/Borders and Shading/Page Border/Choose box 9or whatver), Apply to: This section (or this section – All except first page).

I need to pick a problem that crosses a border between two countries, i need to find out what the cultural dilemma is, the social, political, and economic as well. Where is there a conflict between two bordering countries?

Research the Mexican/Guatamala border where Mexicans shoot first and ask questions later if someone tries to enter Mexico.

Whats the difference between border patrol and police based on the border?

Posted by admin on April 14th, 2011 and filed under border | 62 Comments »

Are police on the border the same as border patrol? If not do they work together on the same cases & out of the same buildings? Would a border patrol officer outrank a local sheriff?

A CBP agent is employed and given jurisdiction under the Federal government. Their sole purpose is to monitor the border against people, drugs, goods, etc. entering (and exiting) the United States illegally. The police or sheriff are employed and given jurisdiction by the town/ city, county, or state, depending on which department they work for. Their purpose is to enforce the laws within the borders of the town/ city/ county/ or state.

How could a secure border with Mexico be a bad thing?

Posted by admin on March 7th, 2011 and filed under border | 2 Comments »

Cost aside, because we know where there is a will there is a way, what if the souther border with Mexico was built up to a point where it was impenetrable and could keep out 100% of those attempting to infiltrate? Why hasn’t this been done? When will it be done? What are the possible negatives?

It wouldn’t and wont be a bad thing. The wall will be massive and expensive but worth every moments work and every penny spent. The wall will virtually eliminate illegal Mexican immigration, drug trafficking, reduce crime in border towns and outward, and decrease the surplus population of anchor babies. Who could say any of that is bad? Illegals, who want something, make that everything, for nothing.

How come most all border patrol officers at the border are of Mexican ancestry?

Posted by admin on March 4th, 2011 and filed under border | 6 Comments »

I notice that 90% of border patrol officers at the border and at checkpoints are of Mexican ancestry. How come, do they hate Mexicans coming in? Is it for the money? Do they like arresting their cousins? Are they doing their jobs right?
LOL, and then how come you guys complains when someone uses Spanish, should we care if they understand.

DUH ! Maybe speaking spanish is a skill much in demand?

What is a short border plant to put around my fence?

Posted by admin on January 22nd, 2011 and filed under border | 2 Comments »

I’m putting up a three foot fence around my yard to keep people from letting their dogs poop on my lawn. I want to have it back a foot from the sidewalk and having some plants to border that. What will be pretty and uninviting to dogs? I hear that marigold repels deer so will it do the same for dogs? What other plants will repel them? I live in central Texas that has a hot and humid climate.

Wormwood is contemptible to most mammals, including dogs and cats. It also grows very well in Austin, but it can get up to two feet tall. I would try a dwarf variety like Powys castle.

Thorns don’t really deter dogs, but prickly pears release those horrible glochids and the pet owners would eventually get them on themselves if their dogs were to rub up against the prickly pears. It would be backhanded reminder to them to avoid your place when walking the dogs.
