I know all about using a special primer over wall paper in order to paint over it, but what if there’s a border on the wall? Will there be a visable difference between the wall where there wasn’t paper and where there was?

my husband is a painter u will have to take the boarder off and the glue before u prime the wall or u will see the difference. good luckk take the boarder off 1st.

How do you remove wallpaper?

When my boyfriend moved into his apartment in July, we painted a couple of rooms and put up a wallpaper border as a chair-rail in another. He’s moving earlier than expected (next weekend instead of August) and has to remove the border and repaint the walls the original color. The paint was really dark (red and navy and hunter green) and we’re using Kilz to cover it. But we’re having a hell of a time getting the border off. What is the easiest (and cheapest) way to get it off. We’ve tried soaking it with water, and that has taken most of it off, but there are some parts that just won’t budge. The was the first time either of us have put up wall paper, and we didn’t really know what we were doing when we put it up, and we didn’t really think about taking it down at the time! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

All you really need to do is use hot tap water let it soak in and then scrap it with a paint plastic putty knife. The hotter the water you can stand will work better. Let it soak in for about 10 minutes, while you are scraping that spray or just use a rag and bucket on the next area. Good luck!!!

How can I attach wallpaper to the wall without gluing it?

I live in an apartment and want to use a wallpaper border, but obviously am not allowed to put it up permanently since we’re renting. I’d have to attach it using a temporary method, but what is the best way to do it without having it fall down?

I know they make temporary wallpaper, but that won’t help me because I’m not going to buy a border, I already have one and need a way to put it up "temporarily".

Double sided tape and lots of it or that blue stuff you hang posters with.

Help!! I’m taking a wallpaper border off but it’s making the paint under the paper peel, should I stop?

I’ve never removed wallpaper before, but everyone has told me to take my iron with a peice of cloth over and steam the paper then it peels of much easier…but the paint underneath the wallpaper is peeling off too! Is it going to make it hard for me to paint? Should I stop? Heeeelllllpppp!!!!

No you dont need to stop taking wallpaper off. Its Comman.
Once you have finished it just use SANDPAPER on the area where its uneven to make it plain n smooth. Doing that,u wont c roughness and different coats of paints. Well u got d right advice of using iron or u could have used hair dryer to make wallpaper’s glue to get soften n easy to take it off.

What can I use besides wallpaper border to divide two colours of a wall?

It’s a girls’ room, the bottom half of the wall is paintable beadboard wallpaper that will be painted plum (for texture) and the top half will be flat wall, painted pink. The rest of the room is a light, airy green. Any ideas?

you could get really creative and use pictures in picture frames- just put them in a straight line across the wall. i think another really cute creative idea would be to use a thick ribbon- maybe the green color? just use glue? maybe throw a bow in here or there? it would take a lot of time, but would be unique and look super cute.

Where can I find boys room borders?

My wife and I are having a boy in May and we are trying to get the room started. The only problem is that we keep coming to a wall and what themes to have in the room. What are good themes to have and where to get the wallpaper borders?

First of all… congratulations!! My advise would be to get a more neutral, simple design. The only reason would be if you’re planning on staying in this house until he goes to college, then you don’t want to have to keep repainting the room. Wall paper is such a pain to put on and remove, so I would stay away from that. I would paint it a warm color and get children pictures and other children stuff (stuff animals, childrens light fixture, etc) that compliments that warm color. Over time, you could just change the pictures and theme – much more time consuming and cheaper in the long run. Good luck and have fun decorating!!

Ideas/ways of covering wallpaper borders?

I am going to be living in a rental home and in one of the bedrooms it has this hideous wallpaper border. Because I can’t remove it and doubt that the owners will let me remove it, what can I do to cover it?

It never hurts to ask, just in case they do allow it.

You could hang drapes or curtains around the walls; also a way of adding a new color to the walls. There are few things to do that won’t leave permanent marks on the walls.

Anti-Surveillance

As part of Lothian and Borders “disturb the comfortable, comfort the disturbed” campaign they use the surveillance of my bungalow as a form of harrassment. I got bored covering the house. One guy ran out of the pub when he saw the packet of wallpaper paste.
