Ubuntu/Leopard Anyone?

Yeah it was pretty simple. Compiz can be found in synaptic, along with Emerald theme manager for the window border. The Leopard Window border can be found here: http://www.beryl-themes.org/content/show.php/Leopard+borders?content=64740

The Menu bar background can be found here:

The wallpaper was just a google image search lol.

The Dock is AWN. Which can be added through synaptic by adding some repositories. Just google AWN. And then the AWN theme was the result of a google search as well. Just google awn themes.

adding the file, Edit, and etc to the menu bar was done through this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2591836&postcount=532

With Ubuntu, I think the boot up was a bit faster, but the shutdown was slower. That’s because BSD (what Mac OS X is based on) just kills all programs, where Linux tries to close the programs and save the work.

  18. gangstermailuser Says:

    Yeah, Ubuntu is one …
Yeah, Ubuntu is one of the easiest Linux OSes to deal with, if not THE easiest. It’s like Windows and Mac, there are help files everywhere.

The boot up is quicker indeed, the shutdown isn’t, Linux closes down quite gently. It stops all processes one by one and saves as much as it can. BSD(were OSX is based on) just kills the apps and shutsdown, quick and dirty

    It does come with …
It does come with compiz-fusion installed, it just doesn’t come with the advanced settings manager so you have to use the preset levels of effects (none, normal, or extra). I think they can’t have mp3 support pre-installed for legal reasons, but for mp3, flash, and java you can just copy and paste this into terminal:

    sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts flashplugin-nonfree libflashsupport ubuntu-restricted-extras

you have to use command lines and crap, you need to be a techy to run ubuntu, I hope not everibody falls for this stuff. I could not get nun of this eyecandy working and not to mention mp3 and a whole bunch of file and videos don’t work. It’s unpracticle.
