We bought this border to go in our nursery. We followed the "less then helpful" instructions perfectly, but it still won’t stay. We are applying it to a slightly rough textured wall with satin paint finish. I read ALOT of other comments from people who were applying it similar walls and very few people had problems. Any suggestions on what could have gone wrong?? We don’t want to waste another $20 on a border just to have that one not stick either….

its because of the texture most likely, this may sound crazy but you could get a tube of liquid nails and use that to stick it ,it is thicker and will probably work.the only thing is it will be hard to get it down again

Pre-pasted paper years ago was pretty dependable. Now most paper hangers add paste to be sure it will stick. Borders are even trickier when they are put over other paper or on a shiny wall. If the border is not ruined, buy some wallpaper paste and apply it and try again. They even make border paste for really slippery wall surfaces.

I thought borders had their own special "Border Adhesive" I have certainly used it here in UK, and not the same adhesive as you use on the wallpaper itself. So I’m saying change to a stronger adhesive.

I hang wallpaper and border all the time, and anytime I hang prepasted border, I lay the border on a long cabinet or something similar with the back facing up, and then take a paint brush, dip it in water, then dip it in a small bucket of heavy duty wallpaper paste then apply it liberally.prepasted border just dipped in water is almost impossible to stick without some edges curling.

It could be old and the glue has become damaged. Try using a wallpaper glue. You may need to lightly sand the border area before you apply the paper.
Decoupage glue could help.
