We just bought this house and there are borders on a few rooms and there really UGLY! I wanna take them off and never done it b4 any tips or advice? Suggestions?
I’ve always used liquid fabric softener diluted in some warm water. Use a sponge to apply and let soak in for a few minutes. Come back and start to remove boarder, if it’s still tacky put some more of the solution on. It’s amazing how well it works!

try soaking it in vinegar, or steam with hot water if it does not pull off easy.

Use a bottle of hot dish soap water in a spray bottle. If you do scar the wall, then get a small bucket of drywall mud (pre-mixed) and put a skim coat on it as well as the rest of the wall, sand it smooth, the extra effort will pay off.

The suggestions on steaming it off, using vinegar or fabric softener and water are all great and in most cases work just as well as specialty wallpaper remover products. If the border glue is particularly strong and these don’t work try DIF from Zinsser, available and most hardware stores.
One thing to remember, the border is probably vinyl which means you will need to "score" the border first. Meaning you should make cut marks in the border in order for whatever remover you use to soak through and loosen the glue. Otherwise, whatever you use is just going to sit on top of the border and do nothing to the glue. Normally, I’m against uni-task tools, however, in this case, a tool made especially for the removal of wallpaper will work the best. They are made to cut the paper and not damage the surface behind it. Zinsser also makes an excellent tool called the paper tiger, but any wallpaper scoring tool should do the trick.
Unfortunately, since you didn’t put them up yourself, there is no way of telling how they were put up. Borders can be very difficult to get down without damaging the paint, if they were not put up properly. There is no "fool proof" way to get borders or wallpaper down without damaging the paint. If it is minor damage and you have a sample of the color about the size of a quarter, a good paint store should be able to match most colors extremely well. There are some exceptions, but in most cases, if it’s small spots it should hide pretty well.
