The wallpaper border directions say to wait 72 hours until paint dries to hang it. Can I hang it sooner?

We just painted yesterday…one day ago. The wallpaper border directions say to wait 72 hours and I was wondering if anyone knows if I could hang it sooner without ruining the wallpaint and the wallpaper?

I think the reason is so that the paint has the full time to dry, if you apply the border now it will adhear to the surface alot better and if you go to change the border without repainting you will probability pull off paint with the border. So if don’t plan on redoing the border I would go ahead and put the border up.
